Addiction Recovery Alchemy
We found a beautiful website with information to support any journey through addiction recovery. It’s called Addiction Alchemy.com. Alchemy is best known for chemistry of transmuting base metals into gold, but is more accurately a holistic science. Alchemists studied a combination of science and spirituality to understand the mind of God, the creator of life.
Addiction Alchemy™ is a holistic, self-help path working system for addiction recovery, based on the Medicine Wheel model. The medicine wheel is central in Native American belief systems.
“The power of the Medicine Wheel is in its shape; It is a circle. Life is cyclical, it is not a linear process. Consequently complete recovery isn’t about just getting from point A to point B. The wheel makes recovery an organic process, helping you to master your life by giving you the keys to bring into awareness the interconnectedness of all things through the very process of life itself.”
“Addiction Alchemy™ supports integrative medicine and holistic recovery …assisting us in forming a complete integrative medicine plan for our own recovery and empowerment.”
They offer tools to help you begin the journey, such as an Intention Ceremony and a Releasing Ceremony. And they explain the 12 points of the medicine wheel compass with affirmations and references to the 12 Steps. Here’s an example:
EAST POINTS:
Awareness, Realization, Surrender
Intention: I come into full awareness that suffering is due to attachments (addictions) which ultimately form as a result of the denial of my interconnectedness with all that is and my rightful place in the universe.
Affirmation: I have come to the realization through personal experience that the intelligence of mankind is not the only intelligence at work in the universe.
Result: I am committed to seek the Truth in all things in order to restore my connection with my center and to reconnect my Will with that of my highest purpose.
Twelve Steps Reference: 1, 2, 3
- We admitted we were powerless over our addiction–that our lives had become unmanageable. – Awareness
- Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. – Realization
- Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. – Surrender
